Introduction :
in response to growing community healthcare demands and advancements in information technology (IT), KCC FM&PHC implements strategic informatics services to elevate the patient and staff experience. This integration of existing IT facilities not only enhances service delivery but also ensures superior quality of care throughout a patient’s visit.
Objectives :
This essay aims to highlight how KCC FM&PHC leverages advanced information technology to improve patient care and operational efficiency within FMC clinics.
Methodology :
The patient journey begins with booking and registration, where patients can schedule consultations through the GOPC Telephone Appointment System or the "Book GOPC" feature in "HA Go." Payment and registration processes are streamlined via E-payment counters and Automated Check-in Kiosks. During consultation, self-service options allow patients to measure vital signs at the E-vital area and track queuing status using the Easy-Q function available in “HA Go” or at the clinic. Paperless electrocardiogram records are uploaded directly to the Clinical Management System (CMS), enhancing documentation processes. Electronic Health Records (EHR) are readily accessible by healthcare providers, significantly improving decision-making, while patients can view their health updates and lab results on "HA Go." Follow-up arrangements are facilitated through reminders displayed in “HA Go,” and clinicians offer Telemedicine services for chronic condition management. For medication collection, patients benefit from remote ticketing via Easy-Q Pharmacy and medication delivery services that allow selections to be made for home or office delivery.
Result & Outcome :
The implementation of these smart initiatives, including EHR, electronic wound packing modules, and telehealth services, has achieved nearly 100% coverage across KCC outpatient clinics. These innovations bolster patient safety with accurate, accessible information and reduce clinic crowding. They provide significant convenience, especially for patients with limited mobility or those in a hurry. Collectively, these technological enhancements improve operational efficiency and foster a supportive environment for both patients and staff—resulting in a win-win situation for all involved.
