Introduction :
Comprehensive interviews with parents on children’s background information is essential for providing quality personalized treatment in Paediatrics service. It takes approximately one-third of a 45-minute initial session in our Out-patient department, which impedes the assessment process and focused observation by parents on the children’s performance. Hence, an electronic questionnaire (e-Questionnaire) was composed using the platform developed by KCC IT to collect this crucial information in pre-consultation stage.
Objectives :
I. Improve assessment efficiency through collecting background information at pre-consultation stage
II Enhance therapist’s preparation with information gathered before first consultation. III Promote parents in observing their child’s performance during the session and gaining consensus in treatment planning.
IV. Improve efficiency in data collection and analysis
Methodology :
Parents of the new patients in Kowloon Hospital Occupational Therapy Paediatrics Out-patient Department were invited to complete the e-Questionnaire. A satisfaction survey was used to collect feedback from parents.
Result & Outcome :
From 16/12/2024 to 15/04/2025, a total of 45 satisfaction surveys were collected to understand parents’ experience on the use of e-Questionnaire. 91% of parents completed the e-Questionnaire in less than 10 minutes, 51% less than 5 minutes. The e-Questionnaire yielded an overall > 90% of satisfaction over six aspects, including the appropriateness of nature (96%) and length (95%), convenience (98%), willing to use it again (93%), higher accuracy of information provided in advance (98%), the therapists were well prepared (96%), focused while observing their child’s performance (98%). From 16/12/2024 to 11/12/2025, a total of 152 caregivers has completed the e-Questionnaire prior to first consultation. With the use of e-Questionnaire platform, therapists analyzed the caregivers’ concerns and preferences such as appointment schedule at ease.
