Nursing Services Division (NSD) is always attentive to nurses' feedback. From November 1, 2021, to November 10, 2025, NSD collected feedback from 453 exited nurses, achieving a 72% response rate. The feedback from EXIT interview highlighted a need for greater support from colleagues and managers, emphasizing the need of supportive environment. In response, NSD designed the voluntary-based "Career Planning Live Chats" program to nurture a SMART workforce by providing real-time guidance and support to equip young nurses with the necessary insights and resources to navigate their career paths successfully.

2.To engage RNs in considering diverse rotation options and exploring a wide range of career possibilities.
3.To deliver career coaching through group discussions and shared experiences.
Methodology :
NSD implemented a “Career Planning Live Chats” program targeting 119 RNs from 2 to 5 years of experience in PYNEH from November 2023 to November 2025. A self-developed questionnaire assessed participants’ engagement in teamwork and their understanding of career development resources.
The program focused on enhancing participants' career planning insights and preparedness for future challenges.
Key components included:

•Actionable Development Steps: Outlining practical paths for career advancement.

•Career Planning Chats: Opportunities for mentorship and experience sharing from Department Operations Manager (DOMs) and Cluster General Manager (Nursing).
•Re-Joining Nurse Testimonials: Sharing testimonials on nursing professional development in Hospital Authority (HA).
•Cross-Generational Support: Cultivating a collaborative environment.
Result & Outcome :
Pre- and post-evaluation using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank test,
1.Participants demonstrated a stronger understanding of rotation exercise (Z-value: 7.89, p < .00001, N=119)
2.Participants had greatly increased their clarity regarding their contributions within departments, allowing them to outline actionable engagement steps. (Z-value: 8.00, p < .00001, N=119)
3.Participants expressed increased confidence in showcasing their contributions. (Z-value: 8.00, p < .00001, N=119)
The "Career Planning Live Chats" initiative has proven effective in fostering a supportive environment for young RNs, enhancing their career planning capabilities and commitment to HA.
