Introduction: :
Background and Aims An interventional nephrology (IN) clinic within the haemodialysis (HD) centre at Queen Mary Hospital ws established with interventional nephrologist and one coordinator nurse to optimize vascular access (VA) management via a multidisiplinary team (MDT) collaboration with vascular and interventional radiology
Objectives: :
We conducted a prospective audit of 48 consecutive VA referrals from July to December 2025. Referral comprised arteriovenous fistula (AVF) cases (60.4%, n=29), central venous catheter (CVC) dysfunction (35.4%, n=17), and urgent permcath removals (4.2%, n=2). Referral sourse included from HD nurses (54.2%, n=26), nephrologist channelling (31.3%, n=15), and referral from public-private partnership programme HD centres (14.6%, n=7). Patients underwent coordinator nurse triage followed by nephrologist assessment on an outpatient setting in the clinic, history taking, focused physical exam and ultrasound assessment. Subsequent MDT-directed angioplasty or surgery. We used descriptive statistics and unpaired t-test or Mann-Whitney U test for historical comparisons, with p< 0.05 considered significant.
