Introduction: :
The perioperative education information is designed for patients undergoing orthopedic surgical procedures. Its primary goal is to educate and support patients and their caregivers before and after surgery, helping them understand the process, minimize anxiety, and enhance recovery and safety. Currently, the available information is one way and presented in non-digital formats. This project aims to create a digital version of perioperative education information for patients and their caregivers can access anytime and anywhere.
Objectives: :
Provide comprehensive perioperative information to patients and their caregivers. Facilitate patient recovery and ensure safety. Prevent fall incidents post-operation. Empower nursing staff to deliver standardized perioperative information. Promote a paperless, smart, and digital approach in nursing care.
Methodology: :
An electronic perioperative information system was developed, accessible via tablets and personal devices using a QR code. This resource includes: Pre-operative instructions Post-operative care guidelines Safety care including fall precautions and medication adjustment
Result & Outcome: :
The implementation of electronic perioperative information has shown to facilitate the overall surgical process for patients. Pre-operative Phase Patients reported feeling better prepared for medication adjustments and psychological comfort prior to surgery. Post-operative Phase Patients received clear education on surgical wound care and clinical pathways for rehabilitation. The electronic information system has been noted by nursing staff to save time in training new graduates and minimize miscommunication. By promoting digital nursing care, this initiative enhances workflow efficiency and enables quicker, more informed patient discharges, ultimately improving overall patient satisfaction and outcomes
