Introduction: :
Managing coagulopathy is one of the important aspect of promoting patients' blood health. In the era of precision medicine, viscolelastic haemostatic assay can help to provide precise haemostatic management while reducing unnecessary blood product transfusion.
Objectives: :
To compare the intraoperative blood product usage when managing massive haemorrhage before and after ROTEM sigma implementation in operation theatre.
Methodology: :
A quantitative analysis on the usage of blood products (Red cells, Plasma, Platelet & cryoprecipitate) when managing patients with surgical blood loss greater than 1000ml intraoperatively from April 2024 to September 2024. Data from April 2023 to September 2023 served as the comparison.
Result & Outcome: :
From Apr - Sept 2024, compared with Apr -Sept 2023, when managing intra-operative blood loss >1000ml. There are a decrease in utilization of red cell (-11.5%), platelet (-37.7%), plasma (-64%), cryoprecipitate (-83.2%), with comparable average intra-opearative blood loss
